The "Kiss of Death" for all old Mercedes!
If you are ever considering restoring an old Benz and you see these yellow Ziebart plugs ANYWHERE on the car, run away!!!
You need all those drains OPEN on your W114/115 chassis and the Ziebart glop seals them. Here is the frame rail where the steering gear box is attached. |

Parts car I picked up. I actually initially thought about restoring it until I dug into it a little.

This reminds me of the jacking-hole plugs sold for older MBs that don't come with them to begin with. They are a pretty idea, but once they are covering the jacking-tubes, any moisture in there will stay and eventually cause rust similar to what you have shown us in your fotos. There is a lot of junk on the market!
