If you are ever considering restoring an old Benz and you see these yellow Ziebart plugs ANYWHERE on the car, run away!!!



You need all those drains OPEN on your W114/115 chassis and the Ziebart glop seals them.
Here is the frame rail where the steering gear box is attached.

Parts car I picked up. I actually initially thought about restoring it until I dug into it a little.

This reminds me of the jacking-hole plugs sold for older MBs that don't come with them to begin with. They are a pretty idea, but once they are covering the jacking-tubes, any moisture in there will stay and eventually cause rust similar to what you have shown us in your fotos. There is a lot of junk on the market!
