Bs Au 48 1965??
A small, 3/4" X 2.5" tag stating something about seatbelt compliance to BS AU 1965 standard is attached to the radiator support of the 280CE. A search on Google shows mainly results about others with cars mainly relating to Australia; Bedfords, Jaguars, and so on.
The tag is in the same general condition as the data plate on the other side of the crossmember (the one indicating 114.072XXX and so on). Would anyone care to weigh-in on the meaning of the tag reading "BS AU 48 1965?" Thank you, Tom |

A long shot.....
Seatbelts were optional for American cars up through 64.
1965 may be the date of the implementation. Jim

Jim,
I am not sure, but I am guessing that the "BS" in "BS AU 48 1965" might stand for "British Standard." The 280CE is a European-spec car. Though it is left hand drive, maybe it spent some time in the UK?? |

Sounds like another interesting item that probly makes Wodnek's 1973 280CE the best of it's kind in the USA. Lemme know if you ever get tired of it, I'll swap my 1980 116 300SD for it anytime.
