W108 inner fender skirt R&R

I cleaned the collection of pine needles (an acidic mixture) and road sand & grit.

I was suprised to see a drain hose exit into the space between the inner and outer fender (on the driver's side).
So, on re-assembly, I drilled a hole in the skirt, and extended the drain hose so it drains outside of this hidden space.
I used a ~6" piece of 1/2" galvanized pipe, with a hose clamp.

Seems like a design error.
