So how much oil does your MB burn (M117)?

Ok. I'll go first!

269,000+ documented miles and about 2/3 a quart for a 575 mile highway trip at some pretty high speeds. Somewhat less if I'm keeping it under 80 mph.

And you?

Ann

Diesels don't count 'cause they replace the oil with diesel!

I’m jealous, my baby needs an engine rebuild. She goes through 1qt. a week which is about 400 miles.

My 6.9 leaks oil like a mother from the chain tensioner after I got the timing chain replaced. It seems like either the plate is warped or something else went south. I leave a puddle wherever I go and go through about a quart every couple of days.

The 280SEL (117) needs new valve stem seals but doesn't seem to burn much oil otherwise.

I drive my 1985 500 SL euro about 5k a year, nothing noticable with quarterly oil changes. 125k.

I have a valve guide seal leak on 2 cylinders and I burn about 1 quart every 400 miles or so. . .I switched to SAE 50 and noticed less oil being burnt then 10W30.

My original untouched m180 burns nothing! Cold starts, hot starts, the oil is always clear and clean and at the same level. First vintage car I've had where that is the case. My old 240D burned oil like it was gas. Between that and the ungodly amounts of soot coming out the tailpipe I think I turned half the houses in Allston black! (I got the car for free from a hippie commune. It came replete with bob marley stickers and macaroni art on the rear shelf)

The fintail has been on NON-detergent standard oil since it's inception. I'm sure those rope main seals are nice n' gunky and I aim to keep them that way. Only 120k miles though I am quite impressed with this little six so far.

My '74 450SLC doesn't burn any either, but then it's only done 130,000km
