Two door questions
hi all
first of. The drivers door on my 67 250SE is getting very difficult to open. I have to press the push knob in with two thumbs to get it to engage. Before i take my door apart, can anybody point me in the right direction as to solve this problem? the second (less urgent) my car was left in a garage to go mouldy before the previous owner rescued it, wich has left mould/water marks in the door cards. Is there a way of getting shut of these? the car dryed out 15 years ago! Many thanks paul |

Try some spray lube in the mechanism. Take the door apart, clean and lube the door handle and the lock mechanism.

if your door cards are leather you may try to give them a good cleaning with leather soap or some such and come back with a good leather balm.
If they are vinyl ( MBtex) try a product called Vinylex by Lexal, I have had great results with that Warren gives good advice on lubrication, however you also may have some wear on your hinges that is allowing the door to sag a bit, you might have to adjust the latch mechanism to compensate. I actually had to alter the catch on my 220 ( with a hand file) to allow easy opening and closure. Of course rule out the easy stuff first!
