W111: Becker Europa TG: How to wire?
Good afternoon gentlemen,
I have acquired a near mint Becker Europa TG radio for my W111 (220S) restoration. I have posted images of it on my restoration blog here (and discussed it initially here). My problem is, I have absolutely no idea how to wire it up, and if anybody in the know would be so kind as to have a look at my blog post(s), and offer me advice, diagrams and/or information regarding the loudspeaker unit I can fit to it, I would be most grateful! It does seem to be the correct radio for the 1961 4-door fintail (not the narrow-faceplate model of the 2-door), and it was purchased with the guarantee that it is working. |

Heres my stab at it: The black wire on the side of the radio is your hot wire. It gets attached to your 12v power source. The gray thick wire appears to be the lead for the antenna. The negative lead can be attached to the tang on the rear or any part of the radio chassis. The screw/nut combo on the back is to mount the unit to a bracket. The dual plug-in sockets at the top of the rear of the radio are for your speakers. It looks like a special plug is needed that you may need to source from an electronics shop or Becker directly. The four hole socket on the back of the unit looks to be for an amplifier which I don't see pictured. Good Luck.
