W108 Wipers Don't Park
When turning off the windshield wipers on my 1973 280SEL 4.5, they stop where ever they happen to be, not parking at the base of the windshield.
Any thoughts on what the problem could be? |

* 124Coupe, I think that your problem is in the wiper transmission, which is part of the wiper motor (as opposed to a relay or a switch). It's been a while but I doubt that you can find parts for that motor, nor do I believe that it is an adjustment problem. The best route would probably be to locate a good used one. Check on the price of a new one anyway (as a reference if nothing else).
* If you get a used one, remove the cover and make sure it's clean and lubricated before installing it (might not hurt to double-check if it parks too). |

If you need one let me know as I am parting out a 300SEL 4.5.

I had the same problem on my 111 coupe. Make sure the electrical connector that is connected to the foot washer pump is properly connected. My wipers worked fine and one day I noticed they did not park anymore. I could not figure out what the problem was (but I did not really try either) until I remembered disconnecting the footpump and after reconnecting the plug wipers parked themselves beatifully again.

Thanks for the replies guys.
Bert, I think you hit the nail on the head as a cocomat was riding up onto the foot switch. All seems to be working fine now |
