Tow hitch on a 240D

I'm wanting to fit a tow hitch (bar here in UK) to my w115 240D manual (w123 motor). I know it's going to be sluggish, but won't be towing massive heavy loads long distance, mostly small local firewood loads. I read in another post the limit for a 123 300D was 750kg unbraked, will this limit be the same for me?
The motor seems healthy (180k), and I have no reason to suspect the gearbox is on its way out (same age as motor). Does anyone know of a UK tow hitch that will fit? Do you need to do any welding on installation?
Thanks
Harry

This may seem like an obvious question, but....
Why don't you just use one of your three 4WD trucks?

That being said, euro hitches were bolted to the bumpers, which limits tongue weight and capacity.

4/4 actually... But kind of problems with most of them, One isn't *really* mine, one is off the road, and the other two are on our family property in Austrlia. I'm thinking of getting an old Hilux here actually.
But back to the point, I see 123 tow bars sometimes, and 123 bars a lot. Will any of these fit my 115?

The 750 kg unbraked number for tow bars was kind of a universal legal limit in Europe for towing bars. Does not mean you car can handle it necessarily. My first car (900 kg 1200 cc VW Bug) had a tow bar rated at 750 kg...

well I can feel whether the car can handle it etc. (I have a good feel for when a vehicle is at its limit), I was more interested in the legal limit. Also the availabilit/type of towbar - would a bar off a 123 or 124 fit it?

YOu would just have to check. The 115 is quite different under there from the 123 124s. The gas tank is under the floor on the 115 and above the axle on the newer cars.

Those look like holes which would be used in a us spec car. They look to be just superficial sheet metal holes and nothing to attach a hitch to.
