Oil in air filter???
I noticed this week that I have about an inch of oil in the Air filter drum in my W108 250S. Is this normal?
Should I clear it out? The car is running fine and my mom always said if it's not broke don't fix it! What should I do? |

This does not sound good to me. Are you getting a lot of blow-by? Remove the oil filler cap with the engine warm and running and look for smoke.
You should also have a line from the valve cover to the air cleaner and then to a vacuum fitting on the intake manifold. This plumbling should be intact and working. That's all I can think of. Chuck |

Hi Frank,
Clean it up and see how long it takes to accumulate more oil. If the car runs okay, don't worry about it. You could check the plate for the oil separator in the valve cover if it's a problem. That's the sheet metal piece riveted to the inside. If you see any gaps, seal them with NAPA 5 Minute Epoxy(gey stuff in a saucer-shaped container). That was a BIG problem on some diesel models. It might help yours. Regards, Randy D. |
