Heater box removal - help
I've been spending this Saturday under the dashboard of my 1970 280SEL w108, trying to gain access to heater and blower motor. Here is what I have removed so far:
- Upper dash cover - glove box - radio - A/C unit - all wood - steering wheel - drivers seat - ducts to rear under seats - ducts from heater to side of tunnel - window switches - center console I am looking at the plastic box, and nothing is intuitive. I have so far removed the connection to a bracket in the upper center, one screw on upper left of plastic into bracket and two clips on right side of the plastic box. Now I am sitting where normally the seat is, and I am scratching my head. I can't even figure out, what the part I am removing is. Does it go all the way up to the heater valve, is it just a front cover? The whole unit wiggles, but won't come loose. Any help greatly appreciated! |

I didn't see heater hoses on your list. Did you disconnect those? And the heater control panel/cables?

I forgot:
heater control panel is out. heater hoses will go once I am ready to remove the heater. |

When you said "The whole unit wiggles but won't come loose", it sounded like the next step would be to disconnect the heater hoses at the firewall.
