ACCII; can you troubleshoot this??

My car will not shut off when I turn the key off unless I have the ACCII setting at Bi-Level or Defrost. If it is set at Hi, Lo or Off then the car will run forever with the key off. Anyone been down this road before? This is on a 1980 300SD w116.

Don't have a live car with the ACC verII, but can almost guarantee that it is a vacuum leak/loss issue. If you do not have a Mity-Vac or equivalent you need to get one. Then do searches on the older threads on this subject, as there is a lot of info on this issue.

Yes I know it's a vacuum issue, thanks. I'm trying to look at the digital copy of the repair manual for the ACCII vacuum diagram but the copy is poor and I can't tell the different vacuum lines apart, nor can I see the circuit flow at the different settings. Does someone have a high resolution copy of the repair manual?

Searching for ACCII problems on this site is like searching for the word 'sex' in Google.

vacuum diagrams

I'm not going to touch your comment about Google

We have some simplified diagrams for the ACCII vacuum system. I think the version we have posted is for the 107 chassis, but it should be some help nonetheless.

https://unwiredtools.com/documentationindex.shtml

There are diagrams for before and after our ACCII replacement product is installed, but they should be able to help you navigate the vacuum system on your car.

good luck.

So, looking at the Unwired Tools vacuum diagrams, it looks like you have a leaky defrost vacuum pod. You could try plugging the line to it and see if the problem goes away...
