R107/M116 Part Number Location Help
Hey All,
Anyone have any idea where I might find the part # on my Engine Wiring Harness in my '72 350SL M116? I'm trying to figure out how many banks I'm going to have to rob to afford one down the road as I put the old girl back together...

Phil dug up a listing for my car that he could Special Order from the motherland for a touch under $3k. I'm just trying to confirm that the number he came up with is the one that I need for my engine.
Oh, and I need to come up with the funds somehow . But hell, it's still cheaper than building one myself or chasing down mystery shorts in the D-Jet every couple weeks when she gets closer to daily driver status...

Contact Tom Hanson at the Mercedes Benz Classic Center. He will get you the part number and the part that you need. Be sure to tell him that your a club member (if you are of course).

Just to follow up in case anyone else has the same question someday:
Should be on the plug where it plugs into the firewall. That was kind of intuitive now that I think about it...

extract the whole harness from the car and work at a bench. Track both ends of each wire (there are only 30 or so in total). Make sure that each wire has less than 2 ohms resistance from end to end.
You will find a few that read higher because the contact is corroded. replacements for every part of the harness is available separately, except for the large white nylon connector body. Replacing the crimped ends requires a special crimp tool. I have |
