A/C Hoses

All,

This seems to come up in various forms including the great R12 vs R134 debates and when did MB start putting these things in at the factory....but...does anyone have a good source for replacing the original A/C hoses on my 71 220D with York A/C compressor? (compressor and drier are replacements but everything else is original)

Factory A/C not dealer installed. Planning to take it in to a place today to see what he can do given that all the fittings are good just need better lines to handle the R134.

Thanks Bill

PS. Gas mileage and accelleration are what they are with A/C connected and an automatic. I drive it in, around and through NYC to get from NJ to Long Island and the rest of the world can wait while I get up to speed (which is not as bad as some report). Once I'm going I'm in there with the best of them. I've driven in a lot of places in the world and lived in LA, DC and NJ/NY. The drivers here are by far the most aggressive and rude I have encountered and you learn to switch lanes between two cars that wouldn't normally park that close to each other but I have never had an issue with them accomodating my slow take off . Two years ago I drove it 1000 miles in 2 days of interstate driving and the a/c disconnected and got about 28 mpg. With the A/C and as an automatic I get what they rest report...about 25...again...it is what it is...I just wish it didn't cost me $4.30 a gal (last week in NJ) to fill it up.

If you are looking for a local shop, I can't help you, but if you have some time to measure then this place can make them for you: http://www.rayeveritt.com/Parts/Hoses/Hoses.html
