1958 180a

Have a '58 180 that I'm trying to get back together. I have a manual but no great pics of the engine compartment. Does anyone have any pics of the cooling system layout? You can contact me at cporter@guidant.com. I could also be talked into selling the vehicle for the price of the the engine rebuild (4 years ago - never run).

Charlie,

I could be wrong (and there will sure be someone to tell me...), but I'm thinking that the layout is similar to that of my 190SL. I also have the manual on the 190, if it is similar. If so, I can get you lots of pix. Do you have left and right heater boxes?

Yes, it does have right/left heater boxes. I have a supplemental manual for the 190's which is supposed to cover the 180, however the pictures are very dark - just doesn't show the detail.
Any pics would be welcome.

Thanks

Early 180s had a flathead-sidevalve engine. Does yours have the sidevalve or the overhead cam engine. (I have a 1961 180b in my driveway. It has the overhead cam engine.)

Sorry it's taken so long to answer - I was going to double-check over the weekend but time gets away. The engine is the overhead cam model.

Charles,

If it's the service manuals and glovebox parts book you need, they are available on CD. The set, which has TWO disks, one for your car and one that ISN'T for this car is available from the parts shop.
