The new non silicone synthetic brake fluid compatable with natural rubber?
Anybody know definitively if the new synthetic brake fluid is compatible with natural rubber brake parts?

Do you mean the silicone labeled brake fluid or the synthetic labeled ones? I have silicon on two MGs and it is not corrosive or reactive, but I don't have natural rubber. If you have a brand and type, perhaps you can find a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for it on the web and see what it reacts with.

The DOT number will tell you if it's compatible.

And what dot number is compatible with natural rubber, please? Or is there a place to look for a table.

Except for DOT #3 and #4, I don't know which DOT numbers are compatible with natural rubber. The DOT does. I could google around for an answer, but so can you.

OK, I googled and found a forum where they are fellows who do track days with their sprites and midgets. It looks as if the brit cars still use natural rubber. They recommended valvoline synpower 5.1.
I am looking for something which will not attack the paint on my collector car. I think that will work. Tom W

There ya go.
I'm curious, have most cars stopped using natural rubber brake parts? |
