voltage regulator
Could someone describe changing the voltage regulator on a 1972 SEL 4.5 beginning with where it's at. Couldn't find it anywhere at least nothing that looks like the one I bought.

Voltage regulator can be external OR internal in the alternator.
External regulator would be mounted on the panel next to the radiator on the passenger side.

Actually I replaced the alternator because I could find that! Problem resolved. But it's definately an external regulator not attached. If it's on the panel as Doc described I couldn't find it. Maybe you would have to take the cover off?

The "Stuff" is behind the ECU so it's hard to see, includes some relays and the voltage regulator.
