Troop Carrier
I salute those of you who understood the usage of the English language in my last thread containing the photo of an MBZ WWII troop carrier, and ask for help in identifying this beast. I found another photo from http://www.autogallery.org.ru/m/mbl3000s.htm
Could these 2 not be the same?

I don't believe they are the same. I'll check in a reference work I have when I get home this evening. The vehicle in the photo looks like a Horch or Hanomag staff car to me if memory serves.
- Peter.

Sorry. Move recently and everythings a mess. I'll continue to look for the book as I unpack stuff this week.

Appears to be some form of a Staff Car
It would really be helpful if you could provide a better side view of the vehicle. Where is it? Anywhere near you? I have a book called "Mercedes Benz Parade and Staff Cars of the Third Reich" by one "Blaine Taylor". In it I find several photos of vehicles which bear some resemblence to the one in question. The closest match that I can find is with a Type L 1500A eight-seater German Army Staff Car. Apparently a 1941-42 model that saw a lot of action on the Eastern front according to the description. There appear to have been several different versions of the L1500A built and this might not be an exact match but it's the closest I could find. Once again a side view if it exists would be most helpful.
- Peter.

Check out this link.
If you go to this link and scroll down the page you will find a couple of different Mercedes Benz L1500 series vehicles. I think the one in your picture is definitely from that series. I also think the staff car in the picture you found with Skorzeny and his SS comrades is certainly a Horch.
http://www.axishistory.com/index.php?id=5828 - Peter. edit. Ok I'm starting to have fun with this. Now that the vehicle is ID'd here's another link with perhaps the best info on the L1500 1.5 ton truck chassis yet. http://www.achtungpanzer.com/votw/mb1500a.htm - Peter.

Peter, I agree w/you. It appears to be a Mercedes L1500. This version in particular:
I've tried to find the exact photo, but w/o success. I don't remember the web address. But what impressed me most when I came across this photo was the restoration. Thanks for the verification. Stephen
