Rust is the downside, so inspect carefully. The AC servo is problematic but there are alternatives.

That damn servo! If its functional you're in good shape, if not there are ways to rig it to work without costly replacement. The vacuum lines get brittle and the actuator pods for the A/C dry out and dont work correctly. The old manyal style A/C system is best if it is so equipped.

Like wbain5280 said. .the W116 cars are prone to rust, specifically in the trunk area and the rocker pannels. Check the jackpoints and poke around on the undercoating with a finger or screwdriver to insure the rubberized coating isnt concealing any of the dreaded rust.

13MPG and the fact that in Washington State, they tax according to GVWR and it's no light weight.

The timing chain can stretch and take out the engine.

The climate control sucks but notice the UnwiredTools banner at the top of this forum. They have stuff to convert it to digital control.

I have a '76 that came from Texas so no rust but the interior is a bit sad. That's easy to take care of, lots of interior parts here in Washington as the bodies have rusted around them.

I think they drive much nicer then a W108. Like a modern car. The W116 is a heavier car but I've always found a w126 to feel heavier.
