I'm trying to keep my head down for a couple of weeks and avoid doing any wrenching. I will probably take some time this weekend to put my Euro 560SEC back together so that I can park it outside. I miss driving that car.

I did manage to go to my first cars and coffee on Saturday. There were a lot of really nice cars out there. I think I'll go again.

Here are some pictures:
I like coffe, cars too. Where is this held at Al?

The Jeep still has death wobble. Control arm bushings are next. Sigh. I thought I had it fixed, the wife & I went out this morning shopping before work, and I hit a crater @ 70 and had to slow to 35 to stop the shaking.

It sounds to me as though the bearings for the front swivel balls are worn out . What you describe is a classic symptom of that...and worn king pins on W108's etc.

I'm not sure if it's ball joints or the LCA's but there seems to be play in the LCA bushings. I'm going to have a friend rock the wheels top/bottom while I watch the ball joints before replacing either.

I picked up another car today. That's 3 in 3 weeks . This time it's a worn out 6.9. I went to look it at thinking it might be interesting but it's tired. I was going to work away when the lady said that if it does not sell, she'll send it to scrap. So I gave her a couple of hundred bucks over the scrap value and took it away.

I cranked it and the engine turns and runs off carb cleaner but I think that either the fuel system is crusty or the fuel pump is out (probably both). It was original Astral silver and repainted black with black leather interior. The interior is trashed, not much rust, just very used and abused. No idea why I bought it but maybe i'll build a 450SLC 6.9 project like Ron's friend in Germany

Here's an Idea... put the engine into your 6.3 . Use the 6.3's trans and store the 6.3 engine until later .Sell off the extra 6.9 parts to fund it. Kjet is easier to handle and if you install the switchoverr valve you can have a proper working aircon ,especially if you use a later compressor from a 500 or 560.
