1974 280 M110 timing
Is it possible to be "180" out on timing and still run but just run poorly? I just put this car back together and put #1 to TDC and the pointer was on 00. According to what I have learned this should be correct. I know that some cars will run 180 out, I am just not sure if this could be the case with this one.

Basics ...
TDC on #1 can occur when #1 is at the top of the compression stroke or at the top of the exhaust stroke. In either case the pointer will be at 00. The easiest way to tell is to look at the cam to be sure both #1 valves are closed. In addition, the dist. rotor should be pointing at the mark on the top of the body, and the cam marks should be aligned.
