W123 280E vs W114 280E
Can anyone explain what differences there are between the M110 engines in these 2 models?
i.e. Will the engine out of a W123 fit easily into a W114? Many thanks in advance for any advice.

As far as I know, there are no differences, I will be transplanting a W123 280E motor into my W114 280C.

W114 280E used bosch d-jetronic injection instead of the K-jetronic system so there is a different intake manifold to start.
Here is a picture of the d-jet setup in an m110 engine.

Thanks fellas.
Sorry, should have clarified, I would only want to transplant the bare engine and keep all ancillaries from 114. Any reason that wouldn't work?

David S Poole who is also a member of this forum has told me that he performed this conversion. You may want to contact him. He did mention that he had to modify the frame rail to make something or another fit.

The cylinder heads are different as are the engine mounts but they are both swappable between the models which also means that the torque dampers will bolt to your crossmember. I dare say the crank is the same but you may want to check spiggot bearing and flexplate dimensions.
