Size of w115 fog lamps?

My 240D does not have factory fog lamps and I'd like to install some.

Susquehanna Motorsports sells Hella driving lights and headlights, etc. They say on their website that the Hella 160 is as close as you can get to the original fog lamps on the older Mercedes (and they quit making them, so supplies are limited and if one of you gets the last pair I will be SOOO mad ). But the Hella 500 looks very similar. Both are 2.63" deep and one is 6.5" diameter and the other is a little smaller. And both take a 55w H3 bulb.

Anyway, I was mainly wondering what the diameter and depth were of the original fogs. Also, are they attached to the bumper or the bottom edge of the body? If someone has a pic that would be great.
Thanks!

115 fog lamps

The overall diameter is 6 inches; the lens is about 5.5 inches.

The depth is about 2 inches.

These attach to the body. Holes were drilled in the front body panels right behind the bumpers.

I have about ten of these for sale if you are interested. I only have the fog lamps, not the switches are any relays. I know they came off of 115's because I pulled them off of them about 20 years ago.

I am cleaning out the shop and found a big carton of these. All are used but in very good shape. I am asking $30 each +shipping if you are interested.

Okay, so they are a little smaller than what's on the Susquehanna Motorsports models.

I think I'd be interested in a set of your lights.
Are the ones that you have amber?
Are the reflectors in good shape? I've heard that's something to watch for, the reflectors either rusting away or becoming pitted and not reflective.
And, is that $30/pair?
Oh, and what kind of bulbs do the stock ones take?

My car has none of the wiring required so I planned on getting all of that anyway.
Thanks

Pizzachef, you asked me about these on another thread and I never replied (haven't logged in for a while). Yes, the original outboard fog lights were mounted on the body, not the bumper (in the European cars, the bumper is much smaller anyway, and the Euro headlights have fog lights built into them). For some reason, when I bought my car, there were holes in the bumper (and some remaining pieces from the mounts) from foglights so I assumed that's where they were supposed to go.

I used the Hella 500's and they work great. But they are black plastic (and therefore they won't rust). The 500's (and the originals) both use H3 halogen lamps. The wiring is already in place on these cars. You run the fog light grounds to some screws on the fascia underneath the bumper, and the supply wire runs through grommets somewhere under the front of the wheel wells into the headlight housing. Remove the headlight assembly; crimp a bullet-style plug onto the fog light supply wire, and it plugs right into a socket on the parking lamp part of the headlight assembly. The fog lights will come on when you turn the headlights on and pull the switch out one notch.

Sweet!
Easily user-upgradeable..I like it.
I like the black plastic for rust-proofing, but the Hella 160's (if they still have any) are chrome and match the rest of the car. Well, I'll probably go with the more practical, no-rust, lights. Unless I get some originals from Pooka.

Thanks for the info! I wouldn't have even looked for the wiring.
