Talking 1967 Merc 250S - Where do I put fuel in it??

Yeah, sounds stupid I know, But I found the car two days ago. Love it to bits. Always loved the Stacked headlight saloons. So I went to check it out today but the shop was closed. had a look round but no sign of the fuel flap. Is it in the trunk? if so, left or right?

Hate to sound so ingorant but the oldest Merc I have owned until now was a 1978 230CE which was "conventional" by these standards!

Thank you in anticipation of your swift delivery from ignorance.

this is the car in question, lest there be any doubt.

The rear licence plate is hinged and moves down when held from the top. behind it is the filler .
Do Let us know if you find it missing!

Well, what the hell else am I gonna do this evening...

There is normally a small chrome 'finger hook' above the plate or to the side that makes pulling the plate down easier. It is possible that this has been removed or just broken off.

This 'center placement' was all the rage on nice cars at that time. You did not have to worry about which pump was available when you pulled in to a filling station.

You were not going to be filling it, the attendent did that. It did save you time, though, since you did not have to wait for a pump on the correct side of the car.

Hopefully, when you pull down the plate, you will not find a locking gas cap.

Its all present and correct! very cool! I love it. I can't wait to be with it everyday. I wish I had more self control than this. I know deep down that in a while it is just gonna be, "my car" but I love this honeymoon period.

Love is in the air.... [singing...]

No vapours required. The car itself is intoxicating!
