'67 Mercedes

I've just heard arumor that there is a 67 mercedes, I don't know the model just the year and the make, but what could I possibly be looking at as far as pictures are concerned. what does a 67 Mercedes look like?

Please post some examples.
I'm not sure if this car is still in the province or not. It will be a resto to say the least.

It's probably going to be a fintail sedan, either a w110 with single headlights and a short hood, or a w111 sedan with a long hood and quad headlights.

Of course it could also be a w111 coupe, which would be an amazing find.

Or, a w113 SL.

You'll find photos of all these models on ebay and elsewhere, like on the heckflossen website. http://www.heckflosse.nl/

Well, IIRC it was described as a two door, so that narrows it down...I like the look of the fintails..I might question this guy to see if he knows the whereabouts of this car.

how is the parts availability for these cars?

If it's really a '67 Coupe, then it would be a 250SE (2.5 liter straight 6 with mechanical injection). I think only about 1,400 were made, so they are very rare. That being said, unless it's been kept dry and out of the elements, it has the potential to be completely ruined........the kind of thing where $60,000 in restoration later, you have a $25,000 car.

As far as parts go, pretty much no problems. Mercedes still has a lot (if you can afford it) and then there's ebay, ebay Germany, wrecking yards that specialize, and aftermarket places like the place that is stamping out sheetmetal for many of these 60's era fintails.

This is my '66...it's in terrible condition, so don't be fooled by the digital photo

From what I understand, the W114/115 didn't come to market until 1968 but didn't the Pagoda exist before then?

Hello,

If it is a two seater then it would have to be a W113 pagoda 230SL or 250SL. This could be a nice find if this were the case.

TXJAKE, trust me when I say; if you saw my car in person, you'd shake your head and think who the f*ck would do this to one of these

Although it does have floors, the structural rust underneath is very bad. The trunk wells are bad and there's about a 4" hole in the side body, just behind the driver's door. It's been painted twice (by previous owners) and the paint is all checked and cracking everywhere that faces up. Oh, and some sort of solvent blisters coming through on the roof where the primer must be attacking the top coat or something. The dash wood is poor, the carpet is a cheap/faded replacement (again, by some PO) and the seats are vinyl in a "Bamboo" color that looks like the original cognac. The seats are my doing because the PO had some cheap vinyl done that was all faded and torn. It's pretty obvious that the car was grey marketed into the US, as a rusted POS from Germany and then some schlock-shop patched it back together and sold it for tall dollars, and then that happened to it a second time prior to me purchasing it. They filled all the structural rust with expandable spray foam insulation, scraped it off in the shape of rockers and inner fenders and then under coated it all. When I went to look at it (April 1992), I'd only seen really nice ones, so I didn't know they could be so rusty. It was clean, shiny, tiny bit of solvent pitting on the roof and some rust blisters in the side body, and the underside looked nice. It wasn't until I got it home and tried to put it on a lift at the shop I worked at, that I discovered all the rust.

Great looking car from about 10' away, but you get up close and just want to cry.
