Vintage Becker Mexico Service

Greetings..

Has anyone ever sent a vintage (early 1970's) Becker Mexico in dash AM/FM cassette unit back to Becker to be refurbished? I have the classic chrome, black and grey face vintage.

If so, what can I expect to pay? Mine is in decent condition, pulled from a wreck in a boneyard. All the bits are there, AM/FM works fairly well, scan functions, cassette trys to play but doesn't.

I would love to have it tuned & restored.

You want to talk to Ed Ebel, one of the members on the vet's list (http://www.mercedes-veterans.com), not to mention an employee of Becker's.

I haven't done it myself, but the other folk on the vets list that have done it and lived to tell of the experience have had good things to say.

A guy on the ponton list recently had one done. Cost for his was over $400 but I'm not surehow bad his was to start with. Ed Ebel, as mentioned in the previous post, works for Becker and has been extremely helpful on the various MB lists. I'm sure he could give you a ballpark figure.

I have a malfunctioning tape deck in my Becker Mexico Cassette. I was given a quote by Ed at Becker America of approximately $100-150 if I mailed it in for repair.
