71' 280 SE 2.8L Rear Gear/O-Drive

My first driving impression of the 280 is that at 60 mph I'm winding out about 3000-3200 engine rpm. Seems a bit much, like it's waiting to shift into another gear but it isn't there.

Anyone know of an overdrive or taller rear gear that is available? Or should I just chill out and enjoy the ride?

Thanks

You need a rear from a 280se/sel 4.5
That has 3:27 differential and fits.

thanks for the reply. I have not received my shop manual yet, do you know if you can change gearsets like on a Ford 9" or a Mopar or am I better off changing the whole rear?

The 3:27 is a larger pumpkin and the gears will not fit inside your existing case.
