280SE Two-Tone Paint?
Anyone have any pix of a 280SE with anything like a two tone paint job or something someone did other than a stock paint scheme or color? Or does a paint job other than stock devalue the car to much? Any thoughts?

No photos, but I have seen some. My understanding was that a two-tone paint job could be special ordered from the factory. If you paint it that way, it will most certainly devalue the car - anything that gives you a smaller pool of buyers devalues a car such as wheels, custom stereo, non-fact suspension pieces, etc.

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. It's just so hard for me not to customize something. Guess I'll keep my creative juices in check.

On the other hand...
Would you enjoy the car more in two tone? Is it currently sporting the factory finish paint or has it been redone? If the latter, No harm in going two tone during your ownership and in the event you are desperate to recoup every red cent when you sell, restore to factory spec prior to selling... Nothing is too much trouble if the desire is great enough.

I saw a lovely Orange and Black 220S last week. If I stop by again I'll photo it. It looked "factory" even though I doubt orange was ever available in the early '60's!
To each, their own. Ps. I like yours Alabbasi

Here's a two-tone factory paint job
http://www.californiaclassix.com/archive/73_280SE_c18.html This I found on imcdb and it's not a factory job but nonetheless looks quite nice, gives it a taxi kind of feeling. http://imcdb.org/vehicle_153374-Mercedes-Benz-300-SEL-W109-1966.html
