With these cars, the gas supply must be kept clean due to the tight tolerances of the FI pump/ The tank must be cleaned, the fuel pump taken apart and cleaned, the fuel lines cleaned, dampers (the round things with bolts around the edge and fuel lines going in and out), injectors cleaned, cold start valve cleaned and the FI pump must be cleaned and the oil replaced. The Pagoda group has good info on this, their pumps are 6 plunger and yours is two. There is a canister on the engine mount that houses the gas filter. You got it, it must be cleaned.

The M100 group also has good info on this as well, in the 6.3 forum.

The gas tank must have no rust or sediment.

All of the above, and before you touch it,READ everything in the manual. Is it a mercedes manual or a chiltons?. The Chiltons books won't tell you much about anything but visiting the m-100 and pagoda sites will.
...and remember to start with the ignition first, followed by valve lash , Change ALL fluids and filters ,clean everything including battery connections, then see if they run Then, and only then do you mess with the injection or carburetion.

First thank you for the quick and complete responses. The manuals are from MBUSA on CD I will be sure to read them. The running gear on these two cars is in pretty good condition I do have pictures of the cars in the lot where we recovered them. I have them at my shop now and we are cleaning and inspecting them I will post better pics when they are more presentable http://s284.photobucket.com/albums/ll33/crashdaddio/

Looking at those cars in the pictures, I would most definitely spend a LOT of time cleaning everything before attempting to run them. I would do a leak down test first though to make sure valves and rings are still servicible and a radiator pressure test. The coupe looks to be in better condition than my resto project...

Bear in mind that you have the early type ZEA opr ZEB pumps. Look in the owner's manual anmd notice where to check the oil in the FI pump, in early models these sometimes have their own sump and are NOT fed oil by the engine lube system, instead receive it from a sump internal to the pump body, like on OM 636 diesels (170D and 180D). That said, check over everything and see if you can clean and flush the poumps with poil before you run them. Keep running it through and fill it with oil before you run the car, depending on how long the SE has sat.

You will have fun with the 220S I still have one I'm finishing , to sell afterwards.

READ READ READ the manuals, the owner's guide, the service manual, everything except the advertising and throw away the Chiltons, read only factory sources!!!

There are several places ,including ebay vendors, selling rubber parts but only one place sells stuff that will actually fit, Mercedes Benz. Try the Classic centre in Irvine, California. It's expensive though. This Is mercedes we are dealing with here not GM
