Steering gear rebuild

Has anyone used this company?

http://mercedessteering.com/

I just wondered about their quality. While I have the engine out of my coupe and have easy access I was going to have my steering gear box rebuilt.
They charge $350. Never had this done so not sure if that's a reasonable price.

That company would have to be some sort of contractor to Daimler AG to be using the name mercedes
$350 is a reasonable price to pay assuming yours is actually worn. Leaks can be done at home and I have never actually come across a worn steering box. plenty of leaky ones but never one that required new parts such as bearings etc .

Have you tried simply replacing any leaking seals and slightly tightening the adjustment screw to remove play? Worked wonders for my 107.

Really the only thing wrong is that it leaks. I'm a little cautious about tearing into it. There are a lot of internal seals to replace. Anybody out there torn into their P/S box? The factory service manual has zip on it.

There's an excellent write-up on gear box re-seals in the DIY section.

Is the article by Davis Petryk the one you are refering too? Looks really nice except for "Remove the valve cap and pay attention because there are a number of small parts that will fall out" is a little scary. Does the 111 3.5 use the same box as a 108 4.5? Just want to know what my options are in case I "lose my balls"
I will be doing this soon I guess.

All of the power steer boxes for the W110 through to the W109 0f 1972 are the same configuration. the W109-018 (6.3) is the only different one and there are three different length pitman arms. So the answer is yes.
