1971 250c 6.9 worth?
Holy grail for me,off to Portland tomorrow to check it out, according to owner done in So Cal in late 70's by AMG- authorized conversion facility for euro spec cars, but not The "AMG" if that makes any sense.
I toyed with this on my 250C cabriolet before i sold it but did not see how it would fit. I got the dreaded make me an offer which I hate, but will look it over,if I don't get it will post contact info.. |

Bring a camera.
It seems to be far too heavy and would understeer like a blimp. |

Okay, what is this? A 1971 250c with a 6.9 installed? And, not done by AMG in Germany as we know it, but done by some SoCal shop that did AMG conversions in the '70s?
Offer as little as possible - $2000 to $3000 depending on condition. Without a one-in-a-million buyer like you, he's gonna have NO BUYERS at all. Take pics - I'd like to see it.

No kidding! I wonder what engine bay "modifications" (aka cutouts) they made...

A m117 is a better fit and bolts in using W107 mounts etc. 560 in a W114.

Wow! Putting a M100 in a W114, it will be very2X tight! stiffer springs at front. It can possibly outdrag a latest BMW M5.

NOT a 6.9
3.5 cis with a 5 speed manual.I made an offer that should have been rebuffed and became the owner of the v8 coupe instead, the conversion appears factory engineered. A proper cleansing should remove 10 years of barn patina.Has a $9,613.00 invoice from AMG USA dated oct 1978 listing a used euro r107 engine & gearbox ,US delivered model 1971,not a 1972.It fired up after replacing the fuel pump and all fluids-probably needs a fuel tank Has rust in trunk and here and there on body dry underside with zero repairs evident. It would be worthwhile restoring it as it stands and preserve it as a peice of US Mercedes History. And yes the conversions look factory engineered because they are,a W114 is the same front end as a W107 so everything just bolts together with out the need for cutting etc if you to install an off brand engine. |

I always consider the 250C engine compartment to be too tight for that kind of conversion.
I'd definitely love to see details on how the exhaust system was fit and if there's anything troublesome with the power steering box. The W114 coupe is far more interesting to me than the W107. Thx -CTH |
