This tranny is probably a 722.1xx 4-bolt oil pan tranny. Reverse band is adjustable.

300D Reverse band bolt

Here's one of several threads on it, there are others that are a bit more illustrative but you will have to dig on your own a bit..

Good Luck.

Obviously the first thing to do is check the fluid level and condition.

There is a reverse band adjustment. It is on the right hand side of the transmission toward the front. It consists of an adjustable threaded rod with a locknut. You might need to pull the modulator to see it the first time.

The head of the rod can be either square, splined or have a hex shape. Loosen the locknut (usually a 19MM nut), tighten the threaded rod 1/4 turn clockwise, hold the rod and tighten the locknut. Test drive. Adjust in 1/4 turn increments until reverse engages.

Do NOT turn the rod all the way in because you are impatient! There's nothing like taking the car for a test drive and having the car go into final drive and reverse at the same time!

Many times the problem is the locknut has simply worked loose and the shaft has vibrated out a few turns.

If adjustment dosn't help then the reverse clutches are shot and it's rebuild time.
