European Grill Guard
I've just finished restoring a 1971 280SE W108 both inside and out - it looks amazing and is pristine in every way. Now that the grill is perfect, with nice german badges and trim to finish it off, I want to keep it looking great and un-dented. It is my everyday driver and in the past have had problems with careless parkers/drivers/idiots etc. backing into the grill and denting it in or nicking the trim. I have seen pictures of these cars with a very classy looking CHROME GRILL GUARD. (not the bulky tube-like ones that hang out in front of the bumper) but ones that seem to be attached to the top? or behind the front bumper? (looks to be European) Does anyone have one for sale or know where I can get one?

I have only seen this once, on a picture at the Heckflosse gallery that now is gone. It was a Mexican or South American car and it looked great! Since it is so rare I don't think this was a option from Mercedes Benz but rather something home made. Since it really is a very simple bent tube you could probably make one yourself for a quite low cost. I would have liked one too but it doesn't go well with the extra lights (you call them off-road lights?) I have.
