More Solex! Another question

So I came across another one on e-bay for $30 or so off an 85 250.
It came in, cleaned it up, installed and it's running.
Some observations and questions though.
The secondarys are smaller, though it looks like only the bottom plate, strange.
There is no fast idle cam or adjustment screw by the choke.
The TN Choke dealy, I opened up and shimmed to closed without the spring, didn't look like something I ought to need and everyone seems to talk trash about them.
The jet's are different, obviously, and there are quite a few differences in construction. It has what looks like a spring loaded enrichment jet on the primary side like a quadrajet does.

My problem, is the idle mixture screws are all the way in, and it runs well.
Better than it has so far, though I have not driven it.
I double checked the TN unit to make sure it wasn't dumping fuel, and near as I can tell I have the piston extended and the ports closed. It starts and idles pretty well and seems to rev with no load. I'm assuming it's overfuled somehow or another with the idle screws being as they are and it still running, but I'm kinda stumped. I also don't have any docs specific to this later carb.
Thoughts?

"If it ain't broke, don't fix it"

Seriously though, you probably have a vacuum leak somewhere. Check around the throttle shaft.

No vac leaks.

Drives well, not even a bog on the secondarys opening. It almost feels like a half way decent carb, almost.

The idle air screw thing is strange, as is the lack of fast idle.
