Mercedes Benz Swap meet?

Hello Friends,

Is there a well known Mercedes Benz swap meet? I posted a message here a few days ago regarding the New Braunfels, Texas Swap Meet and Car Show but no one responded. I will take that as "no, that Swap Meet is not on the Mercedes Benz enthusiast map".

If you know of a good Swap Meet, please let me know. I would love to find a venue where people can browse my bits in a cash and carry format. I know I can sell the 190sl transmission on Ebay, but I don't want to ship heavy metal stuff. I have 3 boxes of Zenith and Solex carburetors and carb parts, air cleaners, etc.

I have some pictures on photobucket, of about half the stuff in storage.

You might consider dropping a line in THIS thread I have had good luck bringing stuff to GTG's on a pre-arranged sale basis. The Centerville, TX function is well organized and draws a pretty good crowd.

That car was originally delivered to a doctor in South America and then purchased by Max Pygman in 1976. Max started restoring Mercedes in Connecticut before moving the business to Illinois. He was in business for 30 years. His most well known project was the restoration of Arlo Guthrie's 1954 Cabriolet known as CupCake. The "Green Machine" as Max called, was purchased by a collector in Norway for restoration. I wanted to keep restore it myself, but didn't have the time or money that project was going to require. But it sure is a romantic car. There is a short video clip on youtube.com

My 1973 280SEL was another Max Pygman acquisition. He got it from the original owner with about 53,000 miles on it. The car was a garage queen. It has 61,xxx miles now. I put about 100 miles per month on it as a daily driver. I work at home, so the commute is very short. We have 5 registered vehichles, so mileage gets spread around amongst them. My wife prefers her Acura SUV to my "Classic" for running around town, except when we go to to car events where the Benz is kind of special.

Max's son-in-law drives a really cool RHD W108 called "The Scot" and made a package deal with me for all of Max's Mercedes stuff. It is quite a collection of stuff.

Here is another one you might want to put on your schedule if the trip isn't too long for you http://www.deutscheclassic.com/. It will take place on July 11, 2009.

I saw you had some radiators, you wouldn't happen to have one for a 1970 250C would you?

Would be fun,but...

Darn that sounds like a LOT of fun.....
Oh yeah, you are 2000 miles away....
Never mind....

Now if anyone in Northern CA wants to plan a GTG,I'd be up for helping.
I have done route planning and GTG's with the miata groupies before, plus I have "intimate" knowledge of California wine country as I was raised there.

Outside of the MBCNA club events I know only of an "informal" group that meets occasionally in the Sacramento(state capitol) area.
