Heater levers for '72 280se 4.5
The four levers for adjusting the climate are broken off. I have not taken the dash apart yet but I think I will have to. Any advice on doing that? The heater does work but to adjust it I have to jamb a screwdriver in it. I have only done it once as I am afraid of causing more damage. Also if anyone has the levers or knows where I could find them that would be most appreciated. This is my first time posting so forgive me if I'm in the wrong spot. Thanks.

Hi Curkey
The heater levers have ends which break over time. There are plenty of posts on this site. I would suggest going to the search function and typing in heater levers, climate control, etc.. You should be able to track some information down. The broken lever ends can be symptomatic of heater core valves which have gotten stuck and may or may not be working properly. There is an O-Ring kit available once you get to the the core. This is another part of the job but you will find various posts all associated with this procedure. Turner |

Are these the levers that move side to side or up and down?
I have several sets of the up/down variety that I've harvested from early 107 and 116 chassis cars. Photos of yours would be helpful, but I'd be happy to help if what I have will work on your car. I'll try to post photos of what I've got to aid identification. |

Thanks for the help, I'll try the search function. These are the levers that go from side to side. I have no pictures of them as they were missing when I bought the car.
