Timing Specs.
Can anyone supply me with the timing specs for a 75, 280SL. Engine is the 110.982, Bosch distributor # 0231 306 004. German Classic Center referred me to the US Classic Center which of course referred me to the German CC.
Have posted on the UK owners site with no replies. Thanks.

Many thanks for responding. Those are the same specs I have in my 110 manual, unfortunately they don't list the 110.982 engine or my Bosch distributor #. Engine bogs down and backfires when throttle is suddenly opened. Would like to know I have correct timing befor I look elsewhere. Again thanks for answering.

This sounds like fuel lagging throttle opening, >> lean condition. When in doubt set to 30degrees at 2,500rpm or go on the driving ping test. Load the engine on an uphill with a lower gear. This sometimes will nail it down to a retarded timing chain.
