Double check my coil number
 

I have a Red Bosch 0221119030 coil and a 0227901014 red ballast resistor.

Can someone confirm that those are fine for my 1968, 230s. I want to make sure I am taxing anything in my ignition system.

Use a voltmeter on the output side of your resistor. Anything above a 4.5V and below 9V will be fine.

later models had the "blue" but Mike is correct and is the best way to know

That is correct. The red coil was the late coil and required the 1.8 Ohm ballast. This combo is the best for standard ignitions and many earlier chassis use that combo for an ignition spark upgrade.
