DIY carpet replacement for the 108
I just started replacing 39 yr. old carpet in my 108. After realizing that I could not afford the $600-$800 replacement kits, I decided to do it myself. The carpet pieces by the kick panels was in the worst shape. frayed and unraveling badly. So these are the pieces I focused on first. Since all the carpet is in relatively manageable size pieces, the job, thus far, has been easy. Not to mention a lot cheaper. I put up a couple of pics of the work so far. The first is a before shot of the dark brown original, the other two are after shots of the new tan carpet.[IMG][/IMG]This is right after installation. I still have debris laying around lol.

Yeah I think this is the way to go. I just pulled out the old carpet pieces, traced them onto the new carpet, cut it out and glued it in. This way you are assured a proper fit. I will admit the carpet I used is automotive carpet, but it is thinner than the original loop carpet.

How do I save this article?
Ok here's where I show how computer savvy I am not! How do I save this article for future reference within my Shopforum sign in page? Or do I have to save with the delicious/stumbleupon/etc type of system. Am I making sense? |
