1972 280se 4.5 "back to life"

Reading in the old posts about "no spark". Tomguy suggests the 12v light to the coil wires to check the ignition box. I did it and am only getting a continueous light, no flashing light. Is it bad?

I have cleaned the tank, rebuilt the fuel pump, new hoses.....fuel is going to the rack. not cranking and not getting any fire. The coil is showing dead, so I will have a new one in the morning. ANY advice is appreciated!
I plan on checking the wires to the rheostats under the coil why I have it off.........
