MB Mileage Badges Are Made From Spare Sliding Door Parts!

I received my mileage badge from Mercedes a while back and noticed it came with some strange plastic spacers (and I still don't know how they are supposed to mount, so I did it my own way). I was at the hardware store the other day and bought a sliding door repair kit. The plastic pieces in the sliding door kit are identical to the spacers the Mercedes grille badges use, they just cut them into thirds! I guess you get what you pay for, huh?

Now if only you could've bought those mileage badges at the hardware store!

Mine came with no plastic spacers, but with rubber washers. Also with no apparent method of mounting.

My canadian badge came with studs installed and a plastic half circle for the rear plate.
I just un threaded teh studs and put bolts in with a big washer on each.

I guess the badges are meant to be mounted on the doors instead?

preserving badge

A badge I have had for 7 years is pretty faded. Now I have 2 new badges for my 91 350 SDL and 93 300D 2.5 and I would like to preserve the original finish. Any suggestions out there? Oh, and the badges came with studs, nuts, rubber washers and half-moon white plastic spacers. thanks.

The badges wear out because they're at the front of the car and are also exposed to the engine heat behind them (when installed on the grille).

Try sending another request to MBUSA. I forgot I already have a badge for my 300D when I sent an application for the 300TD we had for a short while (the application form asked if we had any other MB and what mileage so I obliged to complete the form).

I got another badge for my 300D in the mail 2 months later. Then keep the new ones. The one from my 300D had bits of the zeros falling off after a while so I took them off and just placed them on display on my bookshelf.
