Generic water pump question

This is not specific to MB's, I was wondering if anyone knows the output of a typical engine water pump? I know it depends on RPM's, I am wondering what a rough range would be, in gallons per minute, or whatever the standard measurement rate is.

thanks
Fred

I can't imagine there being a "standard", but my guess is the larger the displacement, the higher the flow. I would think it would be in quarts or gallons per minute though. Would be interesting to see if someone has some sort of reference.

I have seen rates quoted on electric pumps but I was wondering how those compare with the pumps that came on the cars.
