clogged heater return pipe

Unfortunately, the pipe that runs from the heater core and transports coolant back to the water pump is clogged on my '72 280 SEL. While changing out the heater hoses, i wanted to make sure the pipe was clear, but it seemed to be clogged. I even attempted to clear it with a snake, but it wouldn't budge. My question is can i pull the pipe without having to remove the intake manifold. the pipe runs underneath the manifold and has a bracket that holds it in place that is now making it hard to remove. I'd rather not have to take off the intake manifold. Thanks
