In-field transmission removal.

What am I going to need to remove a transmission from a 116 Gasser "in the field"?

heavy duty screw driver to separate the driveshaft from the unit.

- Be prepared with 12,13,15, 17 & 19mm sockets and box end wrenches in general.
- A breaker bar for the 15/17/19mm ones is a must for disconnecting the driveshaft.
- A large screwdriver to use a small crowbar (and perhaps a large crowbar) are important.
- A 10mm allen key on a socket, along with a ujoint and very long extensions (like 24" worth) for the starter.

Don't forget that the exhaust is probably in the way and you'll need to move it. That may mean getting the tail of the car off the ground. Worse case, it means a hacksaw unless you have a long enough extension cord for your saws-all.

Lastly, a transmission is heavy, be prepared to bench press 75 to 120 pounds. If you're going to use a vanilla jack, have a piece of wood to protect the pan.

Wire cutter or screwdriver would be good. 19mm & 22mm flare wrench would be good if it's an automatic you're talking about.

a Shop and full set of tools in otherwords...LOL I think it would be alot easier to just remove the engine and transmission all at once.

LOL really? I'd never do that. Seems as sacrilege...I think it would dirty up all the internals for the transmission AND engine as well...
