At last, I found a use for the 4.5 3.27 axle that i've been trying to sell.

Seeing as I could not give this axle away, i decided buy this for it.

It's very rough, but about the only way I could get into a W113 without going into dept.

More pictures to come later.

Euro california coupe? Automatic.

Imported from Germany in 1985, owner smacked it in the front in 1987, drove it home and parked it. He said he'd always planned on restoring it but has realized he is now too old.

Very nice fellow. Gave me a bunch of documents such as the customs release doc and a picture of it when it came off the boat.

Car also has a factory tow hitch and electrical connection!!

Headlamps did not make it in the accident. Gauges are in KM.

113 .042 -230sl
113.043 - 250sl
113.044- 280 sl

If it happens to be a .043 , list the serial number ..there was a mid year change and the early Euros a getting hard to find. Some 113 guys have a preference for them...like me.
The early version had serial up to 02979...so that would be 113.043-12-0xxxx
113 Forum would be the place to join, or at least visit.

Ahh the vin! This is a 70 280SL so a 044. Aparantly the engine was rebuilt 5000 miles before the accident. If you have any links to restoration documentation, i would love to see it. I want to do this one right.

I certainly do have a ton of 113 stuff..I was working on them when they were new and have owned all models .

The 113 Forum has anything you could ask for ...I even have a few tech postings over there from years ago...give it a check.
JA17 from here is hip over there and he is a Top 113 guy.

I see you have the Ivory Steering Wheel.

You can also get the factory DATA card by email from the Classsic Center in Cal..just give them the Car ID #...Data card is a must have and they are still free .

uh, two sl's in the last month? nice. you are cutting down/thinning the herd.

seriously, it has a great deal of potential.

questions:

1) wheels, tires seem big - what was stock? 14's?
2) why the axle transplant? (because it's there, i know)
3) how do you find all these abandoned cars?

Enjoy. (and remember, with all these cars, it seems like now is the best time to sell me the 350se/stick shift vehicle. )
