But wait, there's more!

Still could be the relay! Replaced the ice cube relay in attached picture, this time left it up a little to short some contacts.... Lo and behold! It's not the power window relay, its actually the relay to the A/C compressor (which is currently inop, but the clutch clicks in when you short it. Well, back to the drawing board... need to find out where the relay is that controls the windows now. Still no power at the switch. Thank you so much for the help!

(Middle relay on attached picture- the ice cube)

looks like there is a fuse missing in that pic

What do those other 2 round relays do?

on my W123 the power window relay is directly behind the gauge cluster

Nothing looks like it is coming off of that fuse holder, but put a 25 in there for S&G to see.

I'll pull my gauge cluster off and see. I don't think that either of those round ones are windows.. the p/n for the relay is the ice cube... so, that's probably my best bet. Then again, if I had a dollar for every time the p/n was wrong... I'd have a used late model S500.

Nope. Finally going to run out of daylight. Think I may just take it in to our local classic MB guy and have him do the AC too.

Bradley, My 4.5 has TWO window fuses. It looks like you're missing one. I'd also suggest cleaning everything up with electrical contact cleaner.

I see problems with the fuses in your pictures. Also, you have severe corrosion on your fuse terminals, get some emery cloth sandpaper and clean them off!

Tom, thank you! I had replaced fuses after taking the picture. Cleaned them off this morning before I left the house. Stopped at one classic MB shop in Walnut Grove (Morris Motors) and talked with Morris for a few. He can't recall where the relay is on the later 108's. The relay I thought it was (center ice cube) come to find out is the AC Compressor relay. Have an appointment with the shop that worked on the car while the PO owned it (20+ years). He helped me out with trigger points right after I bought it and had the heads done.

He seems to think the relay is under the main fuse panel in the cabin, hopefully this is the case. None of the CD's show the location, but I can tell you, I'm going to order one now to have.

I wish this car would be as simple as my first 108... but then again, it sure as heck doesn't have the acceleration of the old blown 2.5.

Rather than hide from the truth, I bring back good news. Took it to Steven Lukacsy at Auto Europa in Albany/Berkeley. He's worked on my car for 20+ years while the PO had it. Went through everything I had done with him, and sure enough...both of the "new" used switches I had were toast. One new switch and 60 bucks out the door and windows are working again. Thanks again for the help,
BP

It's a brand new one- auto ranging. Never, ever, ever buy an autoranging IMHO. It's going back to Lowes tomorrow, and a new fluke will be in my box by the end of the week.
