114 lost key down defrost vent, help

Hi: I dropped an ignition key down the defrost vent.
I almost had it hooked, but it fell down out of sight.
I have not been inside the air box, and would appreciate any help.
The key is not magnetic, unfortunately.
The car is a 74 280C. It does have A/C, although it is not working.

TIA

Doug

Leave it and have another key made. You should be using a steel key anyway.

Take proof of ownership and VIN to your dealer for a new genuine key to match you lock set. Not sure of current cost.

I almost had it when I pulled off the flexible pipe to the side vents.
I suspect it is laying in front of the evaporator.
Guess I will just consider it my on-board spare. ;-)

What is the benefit of using a steel key? They want $40 for a new master key here at mercedes in NYC...

I have read they are better for the tumblers, wear evenly ect. I think it bunk... However in this case a magnet would work
