R107 hood release cable
How hard is it to replace the hood release cable on an R107? It looks like a giant pain in the rear!

As with other models, level of difficulty increases if the hood is down and locked.
I recall it's routing was the same as the sedans. Handle on kick panel, then routed through the firewall, under the master cylinder, along the inner left fender, and under the radiator support channel to the hood latch. Jim

Yeah this one looks like it's behind the fender (i.e. tucked behind the fender lip)
I wonder if there is a way to shorten the existing cable because it's not broken, just stretched.

I know this wont help, But I remember removing one on a parts car and it was one of the last things to come out as access was a pain. Once a lot of stuff was gone, I took it off. good news is if you find you need one, I have it

I have a new one, the part is very cheap. I'll let you know what the labor looks like this weekend.
