Thats a new Chassis with upgrades for racing. One million dollars worth ....
![]() The axles to fit the Rudge wheels are $25,000. It's now in the USA in the hands of it's owner so it will be on the historic race circuit shortly. Sounds like a lot of money but some people spend more on their boats than that . ![]() |

The big difference between this particular SL and the 1500 others out there is that this is Brand new. Everything ,Apart from engine and trans has been made from Scratch to Daimler Drawings (ferried out the back door..) and apart from the fact it carries no Daimler ID plate and the Welding on the chromoly Chassis is of a far higher quality that the original it is indisguishable from one built in 1951.
Consider that each rear axle has been turned from a peice of steel 4 ft long and 8" diameter to form a shaft with the rudge hubs and you begin to realize the where the money goes and quality is never cheap or goes out of style. price included a handbuilt body to by the way. ![]() When you are talking special cars, this is peanuts, a Ferrari just sold recently for $30 million and I would sooner put my money into a merc any day. Theres a Lusso in the next bay from this one,so I can compare ![]() |

Haha, I knew that remark would get a response, I'm only kidding of course. If that includes all the design work and planning it's a bargain. Compare it to the original design team and I'll bet it's a fraction of their development costs even in '51 dollars. Pretty impressive man, you hiring? ;-)
