280se throttle linkage bushing

280se 108.018 6 cylinder - is there supposed to be a bushing in the linkage arm located on the lower right side of the engine? This arm connects to the transimission linkage, accelerator and throttle body linkage. There is a lot of "slop" between the arm and the piviot shaft located on the side of the engine. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Jerry

Benx linkages don't have slop. There is a bushing, maybe 2, missing.

Chas,
Thanks for the response, do you know if the bushings are nylon or brass, and do you know who might have them?
Thanks
Jerry

Jerry,

I don't know for sure but I would suspect that there would be a bushing. Once you get it apart you should be able to determine if there is a bushing. Since the pin is steel I wouldn't think that you will find much wear there. If there is no bushing you should be able to drill out the bellcrank and install a bushing. Nylon or brass should work just fine. Lowes or Ace Hardware have a good assortment bushings. Just find a bush with a usable OD and the bore can be drilled to fit once the bush is installed.

Tomguy,
Thanks for your reply, I broke down and called my local Mercedes dealer parts guy. He faxed a picture from the 108 parts catalogue, I identified what I needed, got them TODAY!!! I am continually amazed that you can still get some obscure part from Mercedes for a 38 year old car! I love it! Thanks to all for your help, now, in go the parts and I'm a little closer to reviving the old girl.
Thanks
Jerry
